SILCHAR, July 8: According to the Assam Municipal laws 1956, the State Government has levied expenditure norms on the contesting candidates in the ensuing municipal elections to be conducted shortly. The government has determined the expenditure threshold for candidates in Lakhipur area, where a ward contains more than 1,500 voters, at Rs 15,000 only. In the Silchar Municipality area, the candidates would be liable to spend Rs 24,000, as the ward contains more than 4,501 voters. (Source – Sentinel) |
