Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : In a significant move, the Assam Cabinet has approved Manipuri as the associate official language for four districts of the state. The districts include Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Hojai. The decision, taken on February 23, aims to preserve and protect the cultural, social, and linguistic identity of the Manipuri people residing in Assam.
The recognition of Manipuri as an associate official language will enable the Manipuri community to access education, administration, and other essential services in their native language.
