Internationally Acclaimed Climate Activist Licypriya Kangujam Felicitated at Special Programme in Lakhipur Cachar

Lakhipuronline Digital Desk: In a grand ceremony held on the 23rd of July, 2024, at 3:30 PM, the renowned climate activist and Special Envoy of Timor Leste, Miss Licypriya Kangujam of Manipur, was honored with a special felicitation program. The event took place at the prestigious Khunow Mandop Achouba in Fulertal, Cachar, Assam.

Miss Licypriya Kangujam, known for her remarkable contributions in the field of climate activism, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Her tireless efforts and dedication to addressing the global climate crisis have earned her international recognition.

The presidium members for the event included Oinam Biramani, President of the Rural Development Committee Khunow, Fulertal, Cachar; Sunita Konthoujam, President of the Women Action Committee for Village Protection Khunow, Fulertal, Cachar; and Seram Ongbi Mina Kumari Devi of Khunow Meira Paibi Lup Khunow, Fulertal, Cachar.

The event was graced by distinguished guests who held important positions in various sectors. Mrinal Kanti Das, Chairman of the Lakhipur Municipal Board, Kangabam Shantee Kumar, retired ACS and Social Activist, and Shri R.K. Sanahal, President of Athouba Ningshinglup Lakhipur, Cachar, were among the esteemed guests.

During the program, Licypriya Kangujam emphasized the criticality of addressing plastic pollution. She urged individuals to refrain from littering plastic waste and instead dispose of it in designated bins. Licypriya, while acknowledging the prevalence of plastic packaging in our daily lives, advocated for responsible disposal. She encouraged everyone to gather any plastic waste they come across and keep it in one place, as it plays a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of our planet.

Furthermore, Licypriya shed light on the detrimental impact of burning fossil fuels, particularly the emissions from petrol and diesel vehicles. She emphasized that these emissions contribute to global warming, resulting in the rising temperatures of the Earth. Licypriya pointed out that the current high temperatures in Delhi were unprecedented compared to the times of our ancestors. She firmly believed in the power of individuals to combat these issues and bring about positive change.
