SILCHAR, Aug 19: All Assam Manipuri Students’ Union (AAMSU) expressed its resentment over the priorities allegedly being accorded to outsider and non-local candidates in the appointment to the post of Manipuri Language teacher at Janata College, Kabuganj in Cachar district.
In a press release, the AAMSU said an interview was conducted regarding the appointment of Manipuri language teacher at Janata College, Kabuganj. The students’ union is apprehensive of the fact that there could be a clandestine agreement between the members of the selection committee of the college and the non-resident or outside candidates, and the local candidates may be deprived.
The Manipuri Department of Assam University was opened with a view to imparting teaching on Manipuri language at the university level and the objective was to create opportunities to teach the language right from the school to college level by scholars who would pass out from Assam University. However, now every year a number of students are passing out from Assam University with the option to join schools and colleges. If candidates from outside the State get appointed depriving the local candidates, a sense of indignation may be created among the local Manipuri educated youths which may lead to far-reaching consequences, the students’ union said.
The AAMSU, considering the growing unemployment problem and the public demand of the valley, has appealed to the authorities concerned for appointment of local candidates in the Manipuri department of Janata College, Kabuganj, for the greater interest of the public of Barak Valley.
Registering its demand for the appointment of local candidates for the said post, the AAMSU submitted its prayers to Sonai MLA Sonai Kutub Ahmed Mazumder, Dholai MLA Parimal Suklabaidya and the president of the governing body of Janata College, Kabuganj. (Source – Sentinel Assam)
