SILCHAR, Dec 29: Laptop computers under the Anundoram Borooah Award-2010 were distributed to the first division holders in HSLC and High Madrassa examination at a function at Silchar today.
Dinesh Prasad Goala, Minister Urban Development and Housing, Assam and Sontosh Mohan Dev, Former Union Minister distributed the laptop computers formally. They lauded the efforts of the students to achieve good result and said that government have initiated many schemes for the development of society. Meritorious students were also benefited by these types of schemes, they added.
Presiding over the function Harendra Kumar Dev Mahanta, Deputy Commissioner Cachar, said that this year a total of 886 students from Cachar district are being benefited by these scheme with the laptop computers. He said that Cachar district-level laptop computers distribution programme has been organized this year for the first time in the State. Dev Mahanta said that the ratio of first division holders students are increasing in Cachar district day by day. In 2006 in Cachar first division holders were on 586 while in 2010 the number has been increased to 886.
Earlier Jogen Bora , Inspector of Schools, Cachar, explained the purpose while Haran Dey, Joint Director of Information and Public Relations, Assam gave the vote of thanks. (Sentinelassam)
