Lakhipuronline Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma is set to visit Barak Valley on Friday, 1st March 2024, to unveil a major development project worth Rupees 730 crore. During his visit, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate various developmental projects in three different locations across Barak Valley.
One of the highlights of the visit will be the Chief Minister’s presence at Labak playground in Pailapool at 12 noon. From there, he will virtually lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several projects in Lakhipur, for which approximately 400 crores have been sanctioned. These projects include the development of the Lakhipur Civil Sub-division office, various road works in Lakhipur, and the Lakhipur District Hospital, with a budget of Rupees 19.80 crore, Rupees 58 crore, and Rupees 127 crore respectively.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Sharma will also inaugurate the Shahid Nanda Chand Singha Bridge, a newly constructed bridge over the Chiri river in Lakhipur. Additionally, he will virtually lay the foundation stone for the office of the Lakhipur Civil Sub-division.
MLA Kaushik Roy, speaking at a press conference held at Labak playground, stated that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma’s visit is part of the Bikash Yatra, a program aimed at informing people about state and central government schemes. The Bikash Yatra is expected to kickstart development projects worth a total of two thousand crores.
In addition to the projects mentioned, Chief Minister Sharma will also inaugurate a Cancer Hospital at Silchar Medical College, constructed with the assistance of the Assam Government and Tata Care at a cost of Rupees 255 crore. Furthermore, the Bhumi Pooja of Karimganj Medical College Hospital, costing Rupees 570 crore, will take place in Ramakrishna Nagar. The Shahid Nanda Chand Singha Bridge in Lakhipur, built at a cost of Rupees 6.23 lakh, will also be inaugurated.
MLA Kaushik Roy further stated that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development work worth 400 crore rupees in the Lakhipur assembly constituency during his visit. This includes Lakhipur police station, Lakhipur subdivision office, a 100-bed Lakhipur district hospital, the Amrut project for drinking water and irrigation, a model college in Binnakandi, Gaurab path in Lakhipur town, and the distribution of 53 ambulances in tea gardens.
The press conference was attended by MLA Kaushik Roy, Lakhipur Municipal Commissioner, and BJP Lakhipur Mandal President Gunjan Kar, and Lawyer Sanjay Kumar Thakur.
The visit is expected to witness a gathering of more than 35,000 people at Labak playground. MLA Kaushik Roy expressed gratitude and thanks to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma, comparing his visit to the previous visit of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who also held a meeting at the same venue.
The Chief Minister’s visit and the proposed development projects aim to usher in a new era of progress and prosperity for Barak Valley and its residents.
