Lakhipuronline Digital Desk :The 33rd Senior National Sepaktakraw Championship 2023 came to a close at the Divisional Sports Complex in Mankapur, Nagpur, Maharashtra on the 5th of April. The five-day event saw participants from various states in the country, and among them were the players from Assam.

The Assam men’s team put up an impressive performance, and their efforts were rewarded with a third-place finish and a Bronze medal in the Regu event. 

The Men’s team comprised of O. Amarjit Singha (C), Deepak Singh, Sh. Naithoi Singh, Tarun Singh, and Birbal Singh, who all displayed great sportsmanship. The team officials, Elangbam Sunil Singha (Coach), and Ngangom Ibomcha Singha (Manager), guided and supported the team throughout the championship.

The Assam women’s team also made their state proud by winning a Bronze medal in both the Regu and Quad events. The team consisted of L. Thoinu Chanu (C), O. Chanchan Devi, A. Priya Devi, Mamta Devi, E. Olivia Devi, K. Debita Singha, and Ch. Jaiphatombi Devi. The team officials, S. Birchandra Singha (Coach), and L. Ranjan Kumar Singha (Manager), played a crucial role in the team’s success.

Chief Coach Sagolsem Birchandra was thrilled with the team’s performance and praised their hard work and dedication. He said, “The players have shown great determination and put in a lot of effort to achieve this result. We are proud of their performance and hope they will continue to excel in the future.”
