Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : Assam University Manipuri Students Union (AUMSU) in Silchar organized the 12th Manipuri Get Together cum Cultural Fest on March 20th, 2023. The theme for this year’s festival was “When Kangleipak Meets Barak,” and it took place at the Bipin Chandra Paul Seminar Hall of Assam University Silchar. The event was a grand success, with students and guests alike enjoying the cultural extravaganza.
The festival was graced by several dignitaries, including Mutum Reena Singh, Chairperson of the Manipuri Development Council, Government of Assam, who was the Chief Guest. The President of AUMSU and National Awardee, Khangjarakpam Krishna Mohan, was the President of the event, and Professor Kh. Dhiren Singh, HOD of the Department of Linguistics, Assam University Silchar, was the Guest of Honor.
Chief Guest Mutum Reena Singh addressed the students, urging them to think about society during their student life. She emphasized that education would be of no use if students failed to consider the betterment of society. She also advised them not to be overly concerned about failure and to work hard to achieve success. “Only students can bring positive changes to society,” she added.
AUMSU President Khangjarakpam Krishna Mohan, on the other hand, emphasized the importance of unity between students from Assam and Manipur studying at the university. He called for them to work together, help each other and create unique performances together.
The festival showcased the rich cultural heritage of Manipuri, with various performances. The students also presented making it a truly memorable event.
