SILCHAR, July 6: Noted educationist and BJP leader Juthika Das died at her Silchar residence in Central Road due to old-age ailments on Sunday. She was 78 years old. Respected for her lofty principles, her death has caused a permanent void in the Cachar district unit of the BJP and in the field of education.

Juthika Das’s death came as a shock for the Cachar unit for the party again as it came close on the heels of the demise of Ramapada Das and Bimalangshu Roy respectively.

Several BJP members have expressed their shock at her death, party sources said. BJP MP Kabindra Purakayastha, in his statement, said that the party has lost a good organizer and a seasoned political leader. President Uday Shankar Goswami, MLA Rumi Nath, MLA Parimal Sukalbaidya also expressed their grief at the sad demise of Juthika Das. Former Union Minister Santosh Mohan Dev also expressed his condolences for the breaved family.

It is mentionable that Juthika Das had been a BJP worker since 1992 after her retirement from DNNK school in Silchar. She had also been the leader of the Mahila Morcha of Cachar BJP for quite some time.

Actively involved in many social organizations, she was the President of Asom Secondary Teacher’s and Employees’ Union, member of Narisikshashram and Redcross and life time member of Barak Bongo Sahitya. She was the honorary teacher of Netaji Night School in silchar.

As a teacher and Principal of DNNK School, her lofty ideology inspired many students, helping them to cross milestones in their personal lives and reach individual destinations. (Source : sentinel assam)
