Cachar DC Inaugurates Diamond Jubilee Celebration at Singerband High School

Deputy commissioner Cachar Laya Madduri inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee celebration programme of Singerband High School on 11 Nov, 2019 Monday.
In her speech she appreciated the activities of the school and hoped that all the teachers students and others associated with the school would put in their best efforts to ensure all round development of the school.


Later, Madduri attended the inauguration programme of skill upgradation in Handloom weaving under Cluster Development Scheme held under the aegis of Handloom and Textile Department, Govt. of Assam at Singerband Pt V.

The Minister of Forest, excise & Fishery department Parimal Sukhlabadya was the chief guest of the inauguration programme. While delivering his speech he said Singerband is the right place where such kind of project was sanctioned and Manipuri women are the only women in the society who can weave handloom fabric both for their traditional attire and commercial purposes.
He also mentioned that mill and factory can’t make such type designable fabrics which Manipuri women can weave, nowadays textiles are given first priority other than agriculture, Manipuri traditional products can reach the national level market and he expressed his hope that in this village so many talented handloom weavers are there who can come out to reach their products to the international markets level also.
In her speech, Madduri stated that H&T department has great role in women empowerment of this area where every woman knows weaving. She also urged all concerned to utilise this scheme properly and contribute to converting this area into weaving hub and to promote this region at national level through unique handloom textiles. While addressing the gathering MLA Lakhipur Rajdeep Goala, who was the guest of honour spoke on the occasion and said that after a long period such type of big handloom project is sanctioned in his constituency and every household of this village can do weaving by their tradition and with the help of this project they can show their talents and they will be equally benefited through this project.
Deputy commissioner also inspected the worst effected erosion sites in Singerband area of Barak River in presence of Executive Engineer Water Resource Division, Silchar.
