SILCHAR, Dec 29 – Computers to 1st division holders of HSLC examination of 2009 of Cachar district under Anundoram Boroah award were distributed at a function here on Thursday last, an official release said. Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Dinesh Prasad Goala, Minister, Urban Development & Housing congratulated the 1st division holders and said that it is a good sign that year by year, the numbers of 1st division holders are increasing.
Ajit Singh, Parliamentary Secretary Finance, Assam and MLAs Bethika Dev and Ataur Rehaman Mazarbhuiyan addressed the function.
Earliar, while explaining purpose, Gautom Ganguly, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, said this year 794 students became eligible to get computers after passing HSLC in 1st division.
Foundation laid: Dinesh Prasad Goala, Minister, Urban Development & Housing laid foundation-stone for a Rs 8.15 15 crore urban water supply scheme at the sub-divisional headquarters Lakhipur in Cachar district on Wednesday last.
In his speech, Goala said that the scheme would will be commissioned within 3 years. More than 12,000 population would be benefitted from the scheme.
Gautom Roy, Minister Excise and Border Areas Development, Assam and Ajit Singh, Parliamentary Secretary Finance, Assam addressed the function. Earliar AK Bora, Managing Director, Assam Urban and Sewarage Board, delivered the welcome address and said that after six months of the completion of the scheme, the same would be handed over to the Municipal Board, Lakhipur.
