SILCHAR, July 11: Keeping aside all ego clashes among top leaders, the Silchar Congress today put up a united face prior to the Municipality election to be held on July 31.
Congress leaders like Sontosh Mohan Dev, former Union Minister Dinesh Prasad Goala, State Urban Development Minister and Silchar MLA Bithika Dev, who were not in their best of relations, along with other district level leaders today jointly addressed a press meet to announce the names of candidates for 28 wards. Addressing the mediapersons, Dev, whose daughter Susmita is a party candidate in Ward No. 27, claimed that according to APCC guidelines the party was not projecting anyone for the post of chairperson.
Dev confidently said, the Congress would be able to win adequate seats to form the Board, though he declined to mention how many seats he personally thought the party would be able to win.
