Silchar, April 1: The death of Kula Chandra Singha (81), former Commander of Indian Navy, who passed away on March 28 due to cardiac arrest at the officers' quarters of Air Force at Pune was deeply mourned by Manipuri Diaspora, Assam, an apex Manipuri organization. He is survived by his son, serving as Wing Commander in IAF and a daughter, besides numerous friends and followers. Singha retired from the Indian Navy as Commander in 1986 and then joined ONGC in 1992 as an Additional Director.
Manipuri Sahitya Parishad in coordination with Manipuri Diaspora held a condolence meeting at Ismail Market under the presidentship of O Nilkantha, a recipient of Sahitya Academy and a well know litterateur, in the memory of Kula Chandra Singha.
Different speakers spoke on the life of Singha and said that his death has left a void which could never be filled. They also shed light on his contribution towards the development of Manipuri community people. (Source:SentinelAssam)
