SILCHAR, May 10 : Scorching sun and elusive electricity played foul in Barak Valley as angry people gheraoed the office of the general manager of ASEB, Barak Valley zone, Kumar Kishore Chakraborty and demanded immediate improvement of power picture in the Valley. Members of Grahak Suraksha Samity who led thegherao smelt conspiracy behind the incessant power cuts. Meanwhile deputy general manager of ASEB, BVzone Sudhir Dasgupta said since there is a major breakdown in Binnaguri-Bongaigaon line, the problem had become so acute and it would take few more days to rectify the problem. He hoped that the power scenario would be better by May 12.

The entire valley is now reeling under acute power crisis for last one week. The problem was so acute that even the inverter could not be charged as there is no uninterrupted power supply at least for one hour at a stretch. Acute power cuts caused irregular water supply in town area. Small traders are facing acute hardship. People are angry with the ASEB and alleged, itis a routine pretext by the authority that electric poles had been uprooted during the storm. (SentinelAssam)
