SILCHAR, Aug 23: Three Manipuri bodies-United Manipuri Association of Assam(UMAA), Athouba Ning-ing Loop (ANL) and All Assam Manipuri Unions' Meira Paibi Coordination Committee (AAMUMPCC) have demanded ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the bereaved family of Sanjib Singha who was thrown out of the running train by miscreants near Allahabad recently.

He was returning from his place of work at Hyderabad after the 'rumours' and 'hate-mails' were spread in the wake of violence in BTAD.

In a memorandum to the sub divisional officer of Lakhipur, Biresh Chandra Nath, signed by E Monitomba Singha, general secretary, UMAA, S Biren Singha, general secretary, ANL, and Sabitri Singha, president, AAMUMPCC, also pressed for a government job to his widow Ranjana Devi.

Sanjib was working with the DLF Company based at Hyderabad for the past few years. His father I Khomei Singh is a farmer.

The SDO, who talked to the DLF Company authority in Hyderabad, was told that Sanjib suddenly left for his home State without informing them.

In the meantime, his brother Sarat Singha and three other relatives had reached Allahabad to identify the body. According to information, since the body was highly decomposed, it was decided to perform the last rites at Tribeni Sangam. The post-mortem was done this evening.

The GRP recovered his from railway track near the Rambag station, close to Allahabad railway junction. It was not known by which train the deceased was travelling.

Sports and excise minister AjitSingh handed over Rs 25000 to Ranjana, MLA Dinesh Prasad Goala Rs 5000 and Sabitri Singh Rs 10000.

The minister directed the chairman of ICDC to appoint the widow in the departmentas a worker. Ajit Singh assured the family of other financial assistance from the State government. Till now, four youths, three from Hailakandi and one from Cachar, lost lives in the violence taking place in trains. (sentinelassam)
