SILCHAR, Oct 31: Manipuri Women’s Meira Paibi is a non political organization and works without any political agenda and is engaged in the constructive social, economic, educational and cultural works for the betterment of society and people around. Addressing a press meet today, Sabitri Singha, president All Assam Manipuri Women’s Meira Paibi Coordination Committee based here, said that it was most unfortunate of late certain reports have appeared in newspapers about the activities of their organization which has only created misgiving and confusion in public mind. She added to say quite shockingly their organization has also been linked with antisocial elements. She apprehends such reports will only vitiate the social harmony and impact the good will and friendship among different communities.
Sabitri Singha pointed out that Meira Paibi has been active to champion the cause of women and to ensure their constitutional and fundamental rights. She said their organization has been campaigning against corruption, degradation of values and virtues in life, besides working for the protection of academic and cultural interest. BBC TV has projected before the world the good works done by Meira Paibi. She said Meira Paibi stands for social harmony and universal brotherhood.
