Silchar, May 29: The Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani visited the Silchar constituency today for the first time after becoming the central minister to take part in the celebrations held on account of one year completion of the Narendra Modi led NDA Government by the BJP Cachar District Committee. On her arrival, the HRD Minister first visited the Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya and the Government Boys’ School, where she interacted with the students and teachers of the respective institutes.
The anniversary celebration, which was held in the District Library Auditorium of Silchar, began with the felicitation of the HRD Minister by the members of the BJP Cachar District Committee. The programme was presided over by Kaushik Rai, president of the BJP Cachar District Committee. Smriti Irani, in her speech, said that during the UPA regime, people of the country and abroad used to discuss the scams happening all over India and considered the country as the scam capital of the world. She said there have been numerous scams which took place during the Congress rule ranging from the billion dollar coalgate scam to the commonwealth games scam.
The HRD Minister also said that, the country lost Rs.1.8 lakh crore in the 2G scam and the Congress government in its defence gave the preposterous ‘zero loss theory’ to fool the common masses of the country. She said that as the country has been ruled around 60 years by the Congress government, the arrogant leaders of the Congress considered the country as their fiefdom and never thought that they would ever be dislocated from power. But, the people of the country know very well the difference between the good nationalist leaders and selfish corrupt leaders, she added.
In her tirade, the HRD Minister said that the UPA Government indulged in rampant loot of the resources of the country and numerous cases have been filed regarding the involvement of ministers of the previous regime in corruption cases which are now being investigated thoroughly and the accused, if proven guilty, would be punished as per the law. She also said that to save the country from this rampant loot and plunder, the people of the nation elected Narendra Modi as their Prime Minister.
Irani said that Narindra Modi is a common man who knows the harsh reality of our country and countryman. He used to work as a tea-seller and his mother used to work as a maid in other people’s homes to make both ends meet. She said that after he became the Prime Minister of the country, Modi said that Parliament is the temple of democracy. She reminded the gathering about the welfare schemes launched by the PM for the common masses of the country.
The HRD Minister spoke about the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, which is intended to bring the poor people for their financial inclusion under the banking system. She also spoke about the Atal Pension Yojana, which is meant for people working in the unorganized private system. She said that the present NDA Government has increased 41% of fund allotment for Assam compared to the amount allotted under the previous UPA regime, but yet, the Congress led Assam Government is alleging the Centre of reducing the amount of funds allotted to the state for the financial year 2014-15. She expressed her shock, when she came to know during her interaction with the TET teachers, at how even after the increased allotment of funds, the TET teachers in the state are not getting their due salary. The HRD Minister stated that under the present government, around 11 km of roads are being constructed every day in the country as compared to just 2 km of roads being constructed during the UPA regime.
The former MP, Kabindra Purkayashtha, also spoke on the occasion. He said that the condition of the country has deteriorated due to years of misrule by the Congress. He also said that the Bengali Hindus will be provided citizenship in the ongoing NRC updation. Others who spoke on the occasion were Dilip Paul, MLA Silchar, and Kaushik Rai, president of the BJP Cachar District Committee.
Later, The HRD Minister, interacted with media-persons in the Silchar Circuit House, where she said that the NDA Government is committed towards the welfare of the people of Barak Valley. On being asked about the action taken against a group of Dalit students of IIT Madras who have been accused of spreading hatred against Hindus, she replied that IIT Madras is an autonomous institution which takes its own steps. Further, she denied any role in the decision taken by the IIT Madras administration regarding the issue. (Source: SentinelAssam)
