SILCHAR, Dec 8: Noted writer and poet Nabadwip Singha, a Sahitya Bhushan awardee, was feted by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Cachar. A group of Sahitya Parishad members led by its secretary, Dr M Santi Kumar Singha, which included the vice president, L Manglemba Singha, W Brajabashi Singha, S Chandravati Devi, S Binode Singha, O Nilkantha Singha, Dr Powlen Singha and Mani Singha visited the house of the litterateur NG Nabadwip Singha and honoured him with the presentation of bouquet, a shawl and citation, recalling his qualities of a writer as well as contributions towards theenrichment of Manipuri literature.

At his residence a poet's meet was organized under the presidentship of O Nilkantha Singha. Poets among the visitors recited their poems. L Manglemba Singha narrated in brief the life and achievements of Nabadwip Singha. After his graduation from Gauhati University, he served as a teacher in Banskandi ME School. He was the founder assistantsecretary of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad which came into being in 1961. He has to his credit several books which included Kabita Kunja, Kabya Kunja, Warang Hiren, a text book for the students of class IX and X under SEBA, Rajarshi Bhagya Chandra and Kunjagi Lambi Lamibida.

Besides, NG Nabadwip Singha has edited many journals like Pithadoi, Sahitya Veena, Abhishar and Ishana Iba Paba Tamshi among others. He has been awarded Sahitya Bhushan by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam, and Kabya Bhushan by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal. Apart from that, he has earned lot of appreciation and plaudits from various organizations, literary, social and cultural. In his 80's, he still continues to be creative and agile and the Manipuri people expect more of his creative writings. (SentinelAssam)
