SILCHAR, August 17: The parents of Timothy Sinha who was among the 18 sailors including three officers in the Sindhurakshak submarine that exploded at the Navy dockyard of Mumbai on last Wednesday are yet to get the body of their son. Timothy Sinha, who hailed from the Pailapool area of Lakhipur sub division of Cachar, after doing his schooling in the various schools of Barak Valley and after his promotion in second year BSc course of studies at Cachar College here, joined the Indian Navy in 1993. Since then, he was serving with the Navy and his parents, Bidya Ratan Sinha and Maya Sinha, and their two daughters, felt proud of him.
According to a family source, Bidya Ratan Sinha and Maya Sinha after hearing the tragic news left for Delhi Navy Headquarters and they were camping there for the return of the body of Timothy. Their two daughters, one being married off and the other studying in Bangalore, their residence at Pailapool was locked.
The Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Gokul Mohan Hazarika, and the Civil SDO of Lakhipur, Nabarun Bhattacharjee, visited the family relatives and friends of Sinhas and while extending their deepest sense of sorrow and sympathy assured them that the district administration would make all possible arrangements to receive and bring back the body of Timothy Sinha. The administration would also arrange for his state honour cremation. (SentinelAssam)
