Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : In a remarkable achievement, Sinam Jaiphabi Chanu of Holy Cross Kabuganj School has emerged as the topper in Barak Valley in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLC) 2023. The Board of Secondary Education, Government of Assam, announced the HSLC results today, revealing an overall pass percentage of 72.69 in the state, a significant increase from last year’s 56.49.
Barak Valley, known for its academic prowess, witnessed four students securing positions in the merit list of the top 10 ranks. Sinam Jaiphabi Chanu clinched the impressive 4th rank, scoring a remarkable total of 591 marks out of 600. Her outstanding performance has brought pride to Holy Cross Kabuganj School and the entire region.
She hails from Sonai Berabak part 3 of Cachar district. With dreams of becoming a software engineer, Chanu has set her sights high on a promising career in the tech industry. She is the daughter of Sinam Ibocha Singha, the former President of Chandpur GP, and her mother’s name is Sinam Ibema Devi.
Joining Chanu in the prestigious rankings are Ritaja Deb from Silchar Collegiate School, Dikshita Bhattacharjee from Holy Cross HS School, and Sukanya Das from Rowlands Memorial High School in Karimganj, all sharing the 9th position with a commendable score of 586 marks.
The HSLC exams witnessed a total of 4,15,324 candidates appearing in 2023. Out of these, an impressive 3,01,880 students successfully passed the examination, with 94,913 securing first division, 1,48,573 achieving second division, and 58,934 attaining third division. Notably, 8,517 students secured distinction marks (510 and above), while 18,653 students scored star marks (450 and above), demonstrating the overall competence and dedication of the candidates.
The exceptional performance of Sinam Jaiphabi Chanu and the three other students from Barak Valley highlights the region’s commitment to academic excellence. Their achievements will undoubtedly inspire future generations of students to strive for excellence in their educational pursuits.
