Teachers felicitated by district administration

SILCHAR, Sept 5: 28 teachers from across the district of Cachar were felicitated at a serene and solemn function held in the premises of Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School here in consonance with the nationwide celebration in honour of the noted educationist, philosopher, thinker and writer Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan who was also the President of India. Kamalendu Bhattacharya, educationist, addressing the teachers, students and general invitees on the occasion, said “teachers and students have to learn about values of life from the noble mission and vision of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan who brought about a revolutionary change in the system of education”.
Bhattacharya reminded the teachers that students emulate them and being conscious of it they have to become role model before them for right thinking and in order to inspire them to become good citizens. He called upon teachers in general for self analysis and introspection in view of the moral and ethical degeneration around.
Md Abid Raja Barbhuiya, former Principal of Nehru College, Pailapool, who was one of the distinguished guests, said that it is the responsibility of teachers to give proper guidance to students and encourage them to inculcate in themselves all that is noble and virtuous so that they can become perfect citizens to take the society and the nation forward.
Speaking as the president of the felicitation function, Harendra Kumar Dev Mahanta, said that teachers involved in imparting education alone could make their students and the country proud with their distinctive achievements. The welcome address was delivered by Jogendra Bora, Inspector of Schools and the objective of the function was explained by Fulendra Kalita, Elementary Education Officer.
Teachers felicitated on the occasion were Swapan Kumar Choudhury, Abdul Noor, Gauranga Saha, Abdul Bari Barlaskar, Prativa Rani Das Purkayastha, Sandhya Dey, Swagata Dhar Choudhury, Rajlakshmi Poddar, Jahar Lal Majumdar, Fulejur Rahman Choudhury, Partha Sarathi Deb, Nurul Amin Laskar, Girbani Bhattacharya, Nil Kumar Singh, Firaz Uddin, Mohan Lal Agrahari, Nandalal Goala, Pradip Ranjan Dey Purkayastha, Saif Uddin Laskar, Mohan Roy Barman, Debesh Chakraborty, Runu Begum, Ibangal Singh, Sudhangshu Ranjan Das, Mainul Haque Laskar, Pranati Chowdhury, Manihar Singh and Mihir Nath.
