Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : In a heartbreaking incident on Wednesday night, 65-year-old Lakshmi Kairi, a former teacher of Kashipur Sona Singh LP School, lost her life after being struck by a hit-and-run auto at Badri Basti, Cachar. The accident occurred on National Highway No. 37 in the jurisdiction of Banskandi Police Outpost.
Lakshmi Kairi was crossing the national highway when she was hit by an auto heading towards Silchar. Despite immediate efforts to rush her to Alipore hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. The perpetrator managed to escape, prompting local residents to block the highway in protest for about half an hour.
The blockade was eventually lifted with police intervention. The body has been sent to Silchar Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. Lakshmi Kairi’s husband, Shibdulal Kairi, the former Headmaster of Kashipur Ballabbhai High School, and their family are now grappling with the tragic loss. The incident has stirred emotions throughout the area.
