Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : A heart-wrenching road accident on Saturday, August 12th, has left the education community in shock as a beloved teacher lost his life while another remains hospitalized. The incident occurred around 10 kilometers from Fulertal, on National Highway No. 37, as two teachers from Lalpani Khairabad ME Madrassa School were on their way home after school duty.

The deceased teacher has been identified as Ng Kamalakanta Singha, aged 55, a resident of Tolenkhun under Lakhipur subdivision of Cachar district. Mr. Singha’s untimely demise has left behind a void in the educational landscape, where he was well-known for his dedication and commitment to his students. He was also the general secretary of the Young Farmers’ Club Tolenkhun, an active member of the community.

The second teacher, Nilofar Ahmed Chowdhury, aged 25, and a resident of Dolugram, Cachar, is currently undergoing treatment after sustaining injuries in the accident. Nilofar is the daughter of Accountant Taher Ahmed Chowdhury of Lakhipur Education Block. Both Kamalakanta and Nilofar were assistant teachers at the Lalpani Khairabad ME Madrassa School.

Reports suggest that the tragic incident unfolded when a lorry struck their scooty from behind at Jujang Hills. The impact was so severe that the teachers were thrown off the road. Passers-by rushed to their aid, ensuring they were taken to Pailapool Emmanuel Hospital for medical attention. Tragically, Ng Kamalakanta Singha succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, leaving behind his wife and two daughters.

Authorities, including BEEO Lalanpui Tulor of Lakhipur Education Block, expressed their condolences and rushed to the hospital after receiving news of the accident. The local community and fellow educators mourn the loss of Mr. Singha, who was revered for his exemplary contributions to education and community development.

In the aftermath of the accident, police promptly arrived at the scene and took possession of the lorry responsible for the collision. The injured teacher, Nilofar Ahmed Chowdhury, was transferred to Silchar for further medical treatment. The body of Ng Kamalakanta Singha was sent to Silchar Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

The incident has sparked a somber atmosphere in the region, with countless individuals expressing their sorrow over the loss of such an esteemed teacher. The community’s thoughts and prayers are with the grieving family, while they also send wishes for Nilofar Ahmed Chowdhury’s swift and complete recovery.
