Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : In a devastating incident on the Kabuganj-Sonai road of Cachar district, a terrifying road accident took place, resulting in the loss of one life and leaving two individuals severely injured. According to local sources, the incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, November 30th. Two motorcyclists were en route from Sonai to Kabuganj when the accident took place on the Berabak 1st block of Chandpur GP.
The unfortunate incident unfolded when the motorcyclists encountered a calf crossing the road, causing them to lose control of their vehicle. In their attempt to regain control, they accidentally collided with a pedestrian before crashing into a tree alongside the road at an alarmingly high speed. The immediate aftermath of the accident drew the attention of local residents, who promptly rushed to the scene to offer assistance.
The locals alerted emergency services, including the 108 ambulance and Sonai police station. Promptly responding to the distress call, ASI Kiriti Dutta, from Sonai police station, reached the accident site with a team. Dutta coordinated the rescue operation and ensured that the injured victims received immediate medical attention.
The injured individuals were swiftly transported to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, the nearest medical facility equipped to handle such critical cases. Regrettably, it is with deep sorrow that we report the passing of the pedestrian involved in the accident. Nazrul Chowdhury, aged 58 and a resident of Nagadirgram 4th Block, succumbed to his injuries while being transported in the ambulance to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
Meanwhile, the two motorcyclists involved in the accident have been identified as Sajjadul Laskar, a resident of Nagadirgram 1st block, and Saidul Haque Laskar, a resident of East Sonair Rakharpar. Both individuals suffered serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
Authorities have initiated a preliminary investigation into the matter and have taken custody of the motorcycle involved in the accident. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and emphasizes the importance of road safety measures.
