SILCHAR, Aug 17: Barak Valley came out in open support to the movement of Anna Hazare against corruption andhis unjustified as well as undemocraticarrest along with his teammates who included Kiran Bedi, Kejriwal and others. Though Kiran Bedi and others have been released, Anna Hazare continues to be in Tihar Jail as he has refused to come out on conditional release by Delhi police. The latest report from the capital of the country indicates that the stalemate over his release continues. Various organizations like India Against Corruption, Barak Valley unit, Citizens'Forum, Nagarik Swartharaksha Sangram Parishad, Traders' Association, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad have lent support to the movement of Anna Hazare.
Earlier on the call of India Against Corruption, Barak Valley observed total black out of one hour from 8 pm to 9 pm on Monday, the Independence Day. It was symbolic of the solidarity and oneness with the great Gandhian and his nationwide movement against corruption and thedemand for effective and all powerful Lokpal Bill to eliminate the virus of social evil, a fall out of the present political system.
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Cachar unit, on Tuesday brought out rally to protest against the arrest of Anna Hazare, Kiran Bedi, Kejriwal and hundreds of his followersacross the nation by police which it termed as 'undemocratic, unconstitutional and inhuman' and demanded their release. Apangshu Shekhar Singh, state organizing secretary, said while addressing the rally that the action of a panicked UPAGovernment and Delhi police against Anna Hazare 'has gone to reinforce the will and determination of people of the country and youths in particular to intensify the fight against corruption and force the Centre to think afresh on the Lokpal Bill, now before the Parliament.
