Lakhipuronline Digital Desk : The World Meetei Council (WMC) has officially announced the restructuring of its Manipur unit, dissolving the old team and appointing new office bearers. The decision, effective from November 15, 2024, was taken by the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to enhance organizational efficiency and better align with WMC’s mission to preserve and promote Meetei culture and heritage.

The newly constituted team includes the following office bearers:

1. President: Y. Shyam Khuman (Moirang)

2. Vice Presidents:

Ratan Khaidem (Sugnu)

Phairembam Basanta (Moirang)

3. General Secretary: Abujam Aboy Meetei (Ghari)

4. Joint Secretary: Nongmeikapam Samuel (Jiri)

5. Finance Secretary: Chanthoi Aheibam (Sugnu)

6. Secretary, Information and Publicity: Sanjram Joy Lairenjam (Nambol)

7. Joint Secretary, Information and Publicity: Roshan Moirangthem (Khangabok)

8. Secretary, Art and Culture: Ayekpam Shyamkumar Singh (Moirang)

9. Child Welfare Secretary: Bikash Oinam (Sawombung)

Additionally, youth and women’s wings were also formed:

Youth Front:

President: Tonjam Somorjit Singh (Sinam Khun)

Vice President: N. Lamjingba Luwang (Khoiru)

General Secretary: Khundrakpam Bishan (Khangabok)

Joint Secretary: Thaunaojam Santosh (Thoubal)

Women’s Front:

President: Rajkumar Shakhitombi Devi (Moirang)

Vice President: Memcha Angom (Kangchup)

General Secretary: Nandarani Ningthoujam (Kakching)

Joint Secretary: Jimika Kumam (Moirang)

The legal, advisory, and executive positions include:

General Secretary, Legal: Devadutta (Imphal)

Joint Secretary, Legal: Jogindro (Imphal)

Advisors: Bina Nameirakpam (Sunusiphai), Yelam Debeshwor Singh (Nambol), and others.

Executive Members: Khangembam Basanta (Phouchakhai), Ratan Konjengbam (Jiri), and more.

Col. Gokul Chandra Singha, Chairman of WMC, emphasized the importance of collective efforts to ensure the success of this transition. He also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing members and encouraged stakeholders to extend support to the new team.
