Assam Chief Secretary T.Y. Das and Director-General of Police Kuladhar Saikia on Monday reviewed the law and order and internal security situation of four Barak Valley districts ahead the publication of the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the State.
An Assam police spokesperson said a high-level team comprising Mr. Das, Mr. Saikia and other senior officials visited Cachar district and took stock of the law and order and internal security situation in Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Dima Hasao districts.

“Various issues relating to internal security and the emerging law and order situation were discussed threadbare.
“This is the fifth meeting of the high-power team before publication of the draft NRC,” the official said.
The District Collectors, the Superintendents of Police and senior officers of the police, the Army, the Central police forces and the Indian Air Force engaged in the districts took part in the discussion, he added. (PTI)
